Accidental Death Benefit (ADB)
The
Accidental Death Benefit (ADB) rider provides an additional
death benefit amount when the insured dies as the result
of an accident. This means that if the insured has taken
the ADB and dies due to an accident, his beneficiaries will
receive the benefit from the basic policy and also the ADB
face amount.
The minimum age of entry for the Accidental Death Benefit
rider is 5 years. The maximum age of entry for the Accidental
Death Benefit rider is 60 years nearest birthday and the
rider will expire when the insured reaches the age of 65
years nearest birthday or the policy expires or matures.
The
minimum Besic amount acceptable for the Accidental Death
Benefit is Rs.100,000/. The maximum amount can be up to
300% the Face Amount of the policy. The Face Amount for
the Accidental Death Benefit can not exceed Rs.3,000,000/-.
In order for the Accidental Death Benefit
to be payable, the insured’s death must have been caused
by bodily injuries sustained through external, violent and
accidental means. In addition the death must occur within
90 days from the date of the accident.
The amount payable for conditions 1 through 9 above shall
be doubled if such injuries are sustained due to:
Accidents
occurring while travelling in fare paying public land
transport such as buses, passenger trains etc.
Accidents occurring while riding a passenger elevator or
in consequence of the burning of public buildings
such as hotels, theatres etc.
Note:
If the insured chooses to take Accidental Death Benefit with
Accidental Indemnity Benefit then their combined face amount
should not exceed Rs.3,000,000/-
